Privacy Policy

Who we are

BetterMen ("we", "us") operates bettermenacademy.com and bettermen.io. This policy covers both, and it explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. For anything privacy related, contact admin@bettermen.io.

What we collect

Contact information you give us: name, email address, phone number, and your answers on our application and registration forms.

Payment information is processed by Stripe. We never store full card numbers on our systems. Payment records are kept for seven years as required by financial regulations.

Program context: information you share about your health, wellbeing and goals so the program can be personalised. Retained for the duration of your membership plus one year.

Instagram direct messages: if you message us on Instagram, message content, usernames, profile information and conversation history are stored in a secure, encrypted at rest database hosted by Supabase (servers in the United States). Access is restricted to authorised team members and our processors (Supabase, Meta). DM data is retained until you ask us to delete it; deletion requests are processed within 30 days. Message "DELETE" to us on Instagram or email admin@bettermen.io.

Technical and usage data: pages viewed, referring source, device type, and interactions with our pages and videos. We use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and Microsoft Clarity alongside our own first party analytics. Where you arrive from an ad, we record the ad click identifiers the platform provides.

Cookies and consent

A consent banner controls analytics and advertising cookies in regions where consent is required; elsewhere they operate under our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used. We also set a small number of strictly functional cookies, including one that keeps the version of a page consistent for you while we test improvements. These functional cookies carry no personal details.

How we use your information

To deliver the Academy and its programs, to respond to applications and messages, to process payments, to improve our pages and messaging, and to meet legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you can withdraw consent at any time by emailing admin@bettermen.io. General user data is retained for two years after you last use our services, then deleted.

Third-party disclosures

We may share your personal information with service providers that assist us in providing our services (including Stripe for payments, Supabase for database hosting, and Meta as the Instagram platform provider), when required by law or legal process, or in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We do not sell or rent your information to third parties.

Security and breach notification

Data is encrypted at rest and in transit and access is limited to people who need it. If a breach is likely to result in serious harm we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required.

International transfers

We are an Australian business and some of our processors store data overseas (including the United States). Transfers comply with Australian Privacy Principle 8, and with the GDPR for users in the European Union.

Complaints

If you believe we have breached the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) or other applicable privacy laws, contact us at admin@bettermen.io and we will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new "last updated" date. This policy was first effective 16 December 2024 as the bettermen.io privacy policy and covers both bettermen.io and bettermenacademy.com.
